3 Easy Ways to Tell if You Need Roof Repair

Roof repairs are necessary on occasion and putting them off will only make the problem worse. Whether you have tiles, shingles, metal sheeting or a flat concrete roof, they all can get damaged from time to time, the only problem is figuring out when that is. After all, you will likely never have that great a vantage point over your roof from your property, so how can you even tell if something is amiss? Here are three easy ways you can find out whether you need roof repairs.

1. Talk to Your Neighbour

It is easy to forget that you have so many people living around you who can see more of your home than you can, but that is usually the case for people who live in suburban Australia. Look at the surrounding homes and pick one out that has a window with a direct view of your home, preferably from a second storey. Once you explain the situation, most people are generally quite happy to help out and let you look at your own home for a few minutes. Bring your phone and take photos so that you can compare these at a later date if you don't see an issue now.

2. Use a Drone

Drones are an ever-expanding area of technology, and one that you might not realise has become so accessible. You can now find drones for less than $100, and sometimes less than $50. On the other hand, you probably know someone who owns one because of how widespread they are. They are very easy to operate and most come with cameras that allow you to control them, which will provide the perfect view of your homes roof. Plus, you may just find out you like using your drone as a hobby!

3. Consult an Expert

If you don't want to take any chances at all then you can always do the most pragmatic thing and simply call for a roof repair expert even if you aren't sure you need one. This will become more and more necessary as years go by, with most consultants suggesting you get your roof checked every 5 years at least. They have all the tools and expertise to sort out what is a major roofing problem and what looks a lot worse than it is. If you don't mind investing in a thorough inspection, then this is your best shot.
